Privacy Policy

Tekdoon (“Tekdoon”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an IT services and computer hardware business based at 2030 Marine Dr, Unit 415, North Vancouver, BC V7P 1V7, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect through tekdoon.com, in person, by phone and through our services, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and we send electronic messages in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

By creating an account, placing an order, booking a service or using our website, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services. Please also read our Terms and Conditions and Delivery and Returns policy.

Information We Collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, mobile phone number and password when you register on our website.
  • Order and billing details: shipping and billing addresses, products and services you buy, order history, and payment confirmation details. Card payments are handled by our payment processors, and we do not store your full card number.
  • Service and support information: details about your device and the problem you want fixed, messages you send us by email, WhatsApp, SMS, phone or our website, and any information you share while we provide remote or on-site support.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you agreed to receive promotional messages, and when and how you agreed or opted out.

How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account, process and deliver your orders, provide repairs and other IT services, and handle returns, refunds and warranty claims.
  • To contact you about your purchases, bookings and support requests, including order verification, shipping updates, price or stock issues, and pickup notices.
  • To send you news about new products, services, offers and seasonal greetings, only if you have agreed (see Contacting You below).
  • To measure and improve our website, products and services, and to show you relevant advertising on other platforms.
  • To prevent fraud, protect our business and customers, and meet legal, tax and accounting requirements.

Contacting You by Email, Text or Phone

When you register, order or contact us, you give us your email address and mobile number so we can reach you. We may contact you in two ways:

  • Service messages about your orders, bookings, repairs, returns, account or security. You will receive these as long as you have an active order or account, and they are not marketing.
  • Promotional messages about new products, services, offers, and greetings such as holiday or new year wishes. We send these only with your consent, which you can give when you register, at checkout, or by contacting us. We may also send them where Canadian law allows, such as to customers who bought from us within the last 2 years.

You can withdraw consent at any time. Click “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any marketing email, reply STOP to any marketing text message, or contact us at [email protected] or (604) 725-6552. We will act on your request within 10 business days, and usually much sooner. Even if you opt out of marketing, we will still send service messages about your orders and repairs.

Our messages identify Tekdoon as the sender and include our contact information. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to text messages.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

Our website uses cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies. Some are necessary for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your cart. Others help us understand how people use our website and measure our advertising.

Tools We Use

  • Google Tag Manager to manage the tags on our website.
  • Google Analytics to understand website traffic and improve our pages.
  • Google Ads to measure the performance of our ads and show our ads to people who have visited our website or searched for similar products.
  • Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram), including the Meta Pixel, to measure ads and show our ads to people who visited our website or may be interested in our offers.
  • OpenAI and other advertising platforms we may use now or in the future, which may set their own cookies or pixels on our website to measure and deliver advertising.

These providers may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, pages viewed and actions taken on our website, and may combine it with information they already have about you. They handle that information under their own privacy policies. We do not give these platforms your name, email address or phone number for advertising unless you have agreed, or the platform’s tools allow us to match customers securely and the law permits it.

Your Choices

  • Cookie settings: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of our site, such as your cart and account, may not work without necessary cookies.
  • Google: manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
  • Meta and Instagram: manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
  • Industry tools: you can also opt out of many interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada at youradchoices.ca.

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only when needed to run our business, and only with:

  • Service providers who work for us, such as website hosting, payment processing, shipping carriers and couriers, email and text messaging services, accounting and customer support tools. They may use your information only to perform services for us.
  • Advertising and analytics platforms described above, as part of the technologies on our website.
  • Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public, including investigating fraud.
  • A buyer or successor if Tekdoon is sold or reorganized, who must continue to protect your information under this policy.

Storage, Security and Retention

Some of our providers, including Google, Meta and our hosting and email services, may store or process your information on servers outside British Columbia or Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessed by courts and authorities under local law.

We protect your information with reasonable safeguards, such as password-protected systems, access controls and secure connections. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused. If a breach of our systems creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the privacy regulator as the law requires.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. For example, we generally keep order and invoice records for at least 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Marketing contact details are kept until you withdraw consent or ask us to delete them.

Your Rights and Choices

You may contact us at any time to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it,
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date,
  • withdraw your consent to marketing or to other uses of your information, and
  • ask us to delete your account or personal information, subject to records we must keep by law.

We may need to verify your identity before sharing or changing information. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Links

Our website may link to other websites, including social media. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a significant change, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and notify registered users by email where appropriate.
